Tea title stolen! Ireland ranked 2nd in world for tea drinking!
Ireland may be known for its love of the drink, but Barry's Tea reveals that the title for top tea drinkers has been stolen by Japan. Ireland is ranked 2nd in the world of tea drinking outdoing the likes of the UK, Russia, China, America and Australia and only out drank by the population of Japan.
With Ireland drinking 1.5kg per person of the tasty treat each year, 2.5 times over the international average, it means the Irish enjoy well over 6,000,000kg of tea, or well over a 1 billion cups scrumptious of Barry's Tea each year.
Camille O'Flanagan from Barry's Tea said, "Despite stereotypes about Ireland's drinking habits it's refreshing to see that with over 67% of the population drinking more then 4 cups day and some even drinking more than 11, tea is still 'the tops'. Should there be a Tea Olympics in the near future, Ireland and Barry's Tea will certainly give Japan a run for their money."
Barry's Teas are blended from the finest teas, with the majority from Africa and India. To join the Barry's Tea Party check out www.barrystea.ie or become a fan on Facebook.
