Movember, the month formally known as November, has arrived in Ireland. Movember is a moustache growing charity event held during November each year that raises funds and awareness for men's health. At the start of Movember guys register on movember.com with a clean shaven face, then grow and groom their moustaches throughout November whilst raising money, culminating in a Gala Party at the end of the month. The money raised by Movember will be donated to Action Prostate Cancer - an initiative of the Irish Cancer Society.

Already signed up to lend their face to Movember are 'Mo Bros' Cork Hurler (and testicular cancer survivor) Joe Deane, radio DJ's Tom Dunne and Sean Moncrief, and top Irish bands The Blizzards and Dirty Epics. Original Mo Bro, TV and radio presenter Marty Whelan has pledged to be a Mo Mentor giving Mo Bros tips on how to grow. Esteemed Minister Willie O'Dea TD is also giving his full support to the campaign. Mo Sistas can get involved too by lending support, raising awareness and helping to raise money and Mo Sistas, TV hottie Michelle Doherty and DJ Mo Kelly are encouraging men to sign up.

Prostate Cancer is the most common male cancer, and Irish men have a one in twelve chance of developing prostate cancer during the course of their lifetime. Irish men are the most at risk in Europe with the national Cancer Registry of Ireland estimating there will be a 275% increase in the incidence of prostate cancer by 2020.

JC Coghlan, co-founder of Movember, says "Movember is raising awareness about mens health and aims to greatly reduce the incidences of prostate cancer in Ireland, and across the globe. Movember is now in eight countries across the globe including Australia, New Zealand, Spain, U.S., Canada and the U.K.. 333,000 people took part across the globe last year and we're looking forward to working with Irish Mo Bros to change the face of men's health"

Changing the face of men's health, Movember was set up in 2003 to raise awareness around men's health issues. Since its inception, Movember has raised over $30 million (AUD) globally, significantly increasing awareness of prostate cancer in the community, and continuously working to change the attitude men have about their health.
